With the right atmospheric composition and a strong greenhouse effect, Koi 5715.01 could be transformed into a highly habitable world.

But that’s not all. There are other planets out there that are equally as impressive. Kepler 69c, located approximately 2,700 light-years away, is a super Earth that could be around seven billion years old. This puts it in the perfect age range for super habitable planets, based on the estimated 5-8 billion years it took for complex life to appear on Earth. Despite its large size, Kepler 69c has an ocean coastline that could provide the perfect spot for life to thrive.

If proximity is more your style, Kepler 1126b is a super Earth located only 2,073 light-years away from us. This planet orbits a yellow dwarf star similar to our sun, but it’s 2.5 times closer to its star than Earth is to the sun. Fortunately, the star is cooler than ours, so the habitable zone would exist in a range much closer in proximity.

These discoveries are fascinating, but they also raise important questions about the future of our planet.
